Chap 1. Review Questions answers: 1. Weather is defined as a state of the atmosphere at a specific place and time. Climate is referring to the weather averaged over a 30 year period. 2. The advantage to describing averages and extreme is important to farmers. It is important to them to know average summer rainfall and frequency of extremely wet or dry summers. 3. NOAA weather radio (NWR) , National weather service, Local television, radio, The weather channel, Internet and newspapers. 4. High (anti cyclone) is usually good weather but not always, it may be accompanied with haze, fog or other phenomena. Lows usually are accompanied by clouds, rain or snow but not always. 5. It is a huge volume of air covering thousands of square kilometers with uniform temperatures and humidity properties. 6. Cloudiness develops with a front because of the transition zone between air masses with different temperatures and humidity. 7. Goes orbit the earth at about 22,300 miles and orbit around the earth’s equator at the same speed of the earth’s rotations so it always captures imagery over the same spot.
