NAME ______Alyssa Bergman______________ CLASS SECTION_____907______ CLASSROOM(S) OBSERVED ______08, 012,013,014,015_____________ Lab Assignment 4c: Language Development Introduction Scientists have been astonished at the predictability of language development and at how easily babies learn to talk. Typically, children pass a series of language “milestones” at approximately the same age, no matter what language they acquire. However, theorists differ on the relative influence of innate, biological mechanisms, and environmental experiences in language acquisition. Chomsky, a proponent of nativism, has proposed that infants are equipped at birth with a Language Acquisition Device (LAD) which is an innate ability to sort out the underlying rules and principles of language. Other theorists emphasize the importance of a rich language environment, especially the availability of speech models to copy. The interactionist perspective emphasizes the interplay between biological abilities and environmental influences in language acquisition.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
