No doubt everybody with equal qualifications should have fair and equal opportunity for a position; however, looking at race, culture, and background should be used with caution. Affirmative action allows employers to select possible candidates based off their race, ethnicity, or gender because diversity in work places has, in some studies, proven to improve performance and efficiency. For the same reason a basketball team is made up of five different positions, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, a workplace is no different. Diversity in the workplace allows for cooperate culture to thrive in a healthy environment. One of the major argument against affirmative action is the fact that some people feel they are being excluded even though they are better qualified.
