Austin Klinghagen Professor Chet Barney Org Behavior & Theory 4/14/16 Chapter 12 Assignment As I have mentioned in my previous assignments I have worked at a country club for nearly two years. While I was there I was put in the position of leadership; I was promoted to work in the pro shop after six months of working there. When I first started working there I started working as an outside staff, after showing the head pro that I was worth the risk I was promoted to be the youngest member to work in the pro shop in the history of Willow Fork Country Club. In relation to the LMX I was suddenly put into the position to where I was in charge of other members of the staff. I quickly learned that I could not keep up the same childish mannerism that I had going into the job. Within the first couple of weeks of being a manager I learned that I had to develop my own type of leadership. Being a young man, I had to overcome

I was not sure that I could be a good leader; but after a few months, I relaxed and realized that I had a natural talent to guide people in the right direction. I worked with the members of the staff and explained to them the goals of the upper management. The common connection that I had with the staff was the fact that I was the same age. The staff felt that they could confide with me and feel comfortable that they could talk to me and I would relay their message to the higher-ups. In conclusion, I believe that I am a decent leader because I have the ability to communicate with both upper management and the lower level staff in an effective manner....
