ASSIGNMENT UNIT SIX Your Name: Kiara Almonte ID Number: 11001739 Your TA: Eve S. Date: 4/16/15 ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION Like all of the assignments in this course, this one requires you to apply what you have learned to the world in which you live. This course consistently models how to analyze works of art and architecture for their function and meaning in context as well as their form and materials . You will demonstrate your mastery of course content by applying this approach to works from your community. In this case, you will apply what you have learned about French Gothic architecture and its ornament to a religious structure from your community as an example of art and architecture reflecting the ideas and beliefs of modern Americans . You will compare your findings to what you learned about Chartres cathedral. Previous assignments posed separate questions to build your skill at writing focused, informative answers. In this case, however, you will present your analysis as a letter written to the Chartres cathedral bishop, providing all the required information and analysis in persuasive and informative paragraphs. The Bishop is interested in understanding how the religious building you choose compares to his own church. To do so, you will select, photograph, and analyze the Function and Meaning in Context and the Form and Materials of what you find. And you will compare these to Chartres, identifying for the archbishop similarities and differences.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
