There are many things you can take into consideration about this question “What biological characteristics have contributed to the success of insects?” They have been around for millions of years, and will probably be around longer than any other species. The adaptability of insects to changing environments is unmatched. In this paper will discuss some of the factors that have leaf to the success of insects over the years. The great reproductive capacity of insects, along with features of their growth and development, have enhanced insects' ability to persist even in unfavorable environments.The birth rate is the process of adding new individuals to a population, and in most instances insects are oviparous or egg-laying. In some species, like corn leaf aphids , females give birth to immature but active young instead of laying eggs. These insects are described as viviparous . The birth rate of insects is highly variable among species, but it is exceptionally high for the group. A high birth rate produces
