Thales is considered to be the first person to examine everything at the time that was known as basic principles. Thales did not follow status quo at the time and have the views of other Greeks. He was a forward thinker and broke tradition with existing mythology at the time. “Thales’s views were not ancient and primitive. They were new and exciting, and the genesis of scientific conjecture about natural phenomena. It was the view for which Aristotle acknowledged Thales as the founder of natural philosophy” (O’Grady “Thales and Mythology”).
