Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assays (EMSA or gel shift) Detects protein-DNA complexes through a change in migration of a labeled DNA using gel electrophoresis This technique is based on the observation that stable protein-DNA complexes stay together even through electrophoresis. These complexes can be viewed using autoradiography where the DNA will migrate slower in the gel when associated with a protein.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
