CET 1 Chapter 9: Printers Review Day 3 Refer to information presented in class from Cisco 9.3 (Installing and Configuring Printers) and answer the questions below. 1. Should the cover to a printer be opened before turning on a new printer just out of the manufacturer box? Why? a. No, because I assume this is correct, there is nothing about this in the curriculum. 2. Define a local printer. a. Connected directly to a computer port, such as a USB parallel, or serial port. 3. Define a network printer. a. Connected to a network using a wireless or Ethernet connection. 4. Should a printer be plugged into a UPS to protect from power loss? Why/why not? a. no, the power surge that occurs when the printer is turned on damages the UPS. 5. Most printers install easily on Windows 7 computers by taking advantage of an installation feature that allows new hardware to be discovered and installed when connected to the computer and turned on. What is this installation feature called (you should know this term from past chapters)?
