Part 1 Things that may change because of the increasing life expectancy and a growing older adult population is new opportunities for both individual a societal development. Also, enhanced studies in geriatrics and medicine. Because people are living longer it is going to create more jobs as well. Currently with life insurance there is not a life insurance policy in place for adults that live past 100 years of age, after 99 it expires. I know this because my grandfather just passed at age 97 and we were looking into policies that continue after 99 but they don’t exist at this time. Many people expect that “the older you get, the sicker you get.” However, researchers are finding that this is not true for some centenarians. One study of 93 centenarians revealed that despite some physical limitations, they had a low rate of age-associated diseases and most had good mental health (Santrock, 2012). Some of the myths are all old people are the same, but in reality there is more variety among older people than among any other age group. As people age,
