World View Question 1. The Chinese Worldview consists of nine basic principles that make up the framework of this religion. First, cosmology plays a big part in their belief that they are the “middle kingdom” living between heaven and earth. Second, T’ao is the ultimate principle of “the way” to universal harmony that they believe in. Thirdly, the idea of T’ien or the impersonal power that brings about their harmony and peace while not being on specific power or person. Forth, they have their principle of yin and yang which they use for prediction while “reading” the balance between the two sides. Next they have their theory of history of humankind, the concept of social order. The sixth concept to build their framework is that of divination, or the practice of telling the future through mystical readings or ceremonies. Next is the idea of the supernatural world and the concept of p’o and hun or how the soul splits into evil and good parts after death. This leads into their idea of Ancestor reverence and how they hold the harmony of the p’o and hun in
