. 1 Regimes Come and Go, but Leftists Stay Eternal “Utopia Unarmed: The Latin American Left After the Cold War” By: Jorge G. Castaneda Published: 1993 New York, New York Price: $19.00 Review by: Will Roper Jorge Castaneda takes readers on a journey through history following the leftists of Latin America. Readers get a very thorough and in depth look at the rise and fall of particular groups such as the Sandinistas of Nicaragua and Castro’s revolutionaries across Latin America. Castaneda has covered Latin America interviewing a remarkable range of people, from guerillas to Brahmins. He also developed a very extensive bibliography while he has organized a vast amount of historical and analytical data. Using this data, he shows where Latin America has been with respect to the left, and where he hopes it will end up. Jorge Castaneda is a Mexican politician who received his B.A. from Princeton University and his Ph.D. from the University of Paris. He worked as a professor in many esteemed universities such as Princeton University and New York University, and is the author of more than a half dozen books. He began his political career as a member of the Mexican Communist Party, but eventually moved to the center. He was also the advisor to Vicente Fox during his successful presidential campaign in 2000.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
