The first power points of week two provide an overview of policy formation agenda setting and the role/ involvement that interest groups play in policy making. Policy formation is the start of enacting a new public policy that may turn in to a public law or amendment. However, before the process can start someone has to initiate the process by identifying a problem and providing possible solutions to the issue at hand. Problem Solutions window of opportunity legislation development Political circumstances Agenda setting is the process at which problems and possible solutions are brought to attention and they either gain interest or dwindle to nothing because they lack support. Setting an agenda is competitive whether its due to individual interest or political interest or interest groups lobbying for a particular interest. The process of legislation development is made up of two parts: agenda setting and legislation development and each part has its own complexity.
