Margaret Perkins FYS 1010 Adam Bauer Time Management: The Key to a Better Life A lot of students, including myself, struggle with time management. It’s a skill, and one that is often not developed in High School. For many Freshman, college is a rude awakening - just going to class is not enough. Sometimes it can be difficult that you have a time management problem, however. Often those who struggle say “I just need to work harder” or “I’m just a really bad procrastinator.” However, simply working harder doesn’t necessarily mean a better grade in the class, and procrastination cannot be solved until you change the mindset that is making you put off the tasks you need to accomplish. Time management is about working smarter, not harder and allowing you to enjoy any allotted free time because of the piece of mind that comes from laying out your tasks and goals for the day. This essential skill allows students to not only survive their college experience, but thrive during it. One of the most effective and important aspects of time management is the ability to schedule out your day. I just recently started to apply this to my own life. Every morning for the past few weeks, I have planned out every hour of my day; from all of my classes to when I am going to the gym or spend time with my friends or boyfriend, I write down a rough outline of when I am going to do everything, and it’s made a noticeable improvement.
