Greg Smith Anaerobic Power Lab Report 4/16/2008 During this lab report, we were trying to determine the subject’s anaerobic power by having him ride a stationary bicycle. We started off by having the subject sit in a chair for 2 minutes before getting baseline data from him. After the 2 minutes we took his resting respiratory quotient (RQ) and VO2. . We proceeded by hooking up the head gear to the subject so that he would be ready to begin the bike test. It is important to remember to put a nose plug on the subject to assure that he is breathing only through the mouthpiece. The subject was told to pedal on the bike as fast as he could for 2 minutes straight. Every 30 seconds we would record his RQ and VO2 values. The point of the test was to see if his RQ and VO2 would continually rise while pedaling the bike as fast as he could. There are a couple of important pieces of equipment that were used during this test. The head gear was adjusted to fit the subject’s head and was strapped on.
