1155 Authenticity a Necessity? Experiences in life are based by two extremes, the good and the bad. The experience machine, introduced by Nozick, is meant to capture you in nothing but good experiences throughout your life. Kazez argues that authenticity, which you have none of if you are locked in the experience machine, is a necessity of life. The only way to live a good life is to have an authentic, truthful one. I believe that people in the experience machine can live a good life without authenticity. Being able to choose your destiny, live a good life, and appreciate it are all real necessities of life. Part of the experience machine sequence is that before you are put into it for good; you get to choose your own path as to what happens to you in the machine. This way, you can decide what makes you happy and what you want to avoid during your virtual life. By being able to choose the things that make you happy, there is no way that this can lead to a bad life. A person who was to choose to be a successful lawyer how solved the biggest cases would be happy
