Meaning, Happiness and the Good Life • Cathal Woods Reading Questions on Haidt 1 "Your Divided Mind" Reading: Haidt Ch. 1  1. What is the 'Promethean' picture (or: script) of the human brain? (p. 10) What is the  relationship between reason and the emotions on this picture? (To answer this question,  you will need to draw on the metaphors presented in the first few pages of the chapter.  Also, be sure to include the case on p. 11.) The script is how our ancestors were mere animals governed by the primitive amotions and  drives of the limbic system until they received the gift of reason, placed in the newly expanded  neocortex.  The man that thirsted for sexual drive had a tumor blocking his front cortex, giving  him no reason.  When that tumor was removed he had his reason back again, and the urges  stopped.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
