Many of the proverbs contain what we might call "conventional wisdom" or common sense ("Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you" (3:3) or "A wise child makes a glad father, but a foolish child is a mother's grief" (10:1)). Pick one chapter, read it carefully, and describe some of these common-sensical principles that can be drawn out. Is there an order to the cosmos? How does the world work? Is it a predictable place? 2. Compare your answer in number one to the message we found in the Law (esp. Deut), and then to the message we found in the prophet Amos. 3.
