CSIS 115 - Introduction to Microcomputer Applications Course Syllabus - Fall 2006 Instructor: Diane Enkelmann Phone: 816.759.4444 (Penn Valley) Offices: Penn Valley Community College: HU-101C Email: Use Blackboard "Message" email (only in emergencies use: [email protected] Course Objectives and Content You will be learning to use the Windows XP Operating System and Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 software to complete the requirements for this course. After completion of this course you should be able to: Understand how to use the key Blackboard tools necessary for taking an online course, including using Blackboard Messages (internal email), accessing and contributing to Discussion Forums, and using the Assignments tool to access Assignment instructions, as well as to submit your completed Assignment files. Navigate efficiently within the Windows operating system environment, and be able to perform basic file management. Use Microsoft Office - Word 2003 to create a variety of documents. Use Microsoft Office - PowerPoint 2003 to create a slide show. Use Microsoft Office - Excel 2003 to create a spreadsheet, do calculations and formulas, and create charts and graphs. Use Microsoft Office - Access 2003 to create and query a database, as well as create reports.
