CASE STUDY 2 Abstract An illegal alien is ordered to treatment following an arrest for DUI. He is initially assessed and determined his addiction lacks the severity needed for admittance to an in-patient program. The client’s out-patient program includes Alcoholics Anonymous, a self-help group with a spiritual aspect, brief counseling sessions twice each week with the spiritual component of prayer before and after each session. The treatment was successful and the client’s recovery is ongoing.

CASE STUDY 3 Personal Information Considering the fact that Mario is an illegal alien from Mexico and has only been in the country for five years, I suppose the first bit if information I gathered during the first session would be in relation to Mario’s ability to speak English and if so, I would like to determine if he is fluent and if he can read as well as write English. This knowledge about the client would be of the utmost importance and would be valuable in regards to whether or not we would require any type of interpretation of the language or the literature. From that point, assuming that Mario was fluent enough to continue without any sort of interpreting, I would begin to gather some basic information from the client, such as what his hobbies might be or what he does in his spare time; that sort of thing. I would ask these introductory type questions just so I could get a feel for what type of person Mario might be. It might be helpful to know if the client is athletic, quiet, intelligent, etcetera. Perhaps Mario and I might share a personal trait or two and sometimes a common bond can be an easy way to break the ice and get things moving along without any sort of skepticism or hesitation on the part of the client. I would then move to a process of gathering information in regards to the client’s recent DUI arrest. I would want to know how often and how much alcohol Mario typically consumes. I would also want to know at what age he began

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
