Rachel Wieller Into to Human Communications February 20, 2008 Speech to Inform Outline: Title: Insomnia General Purpose: To inform Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about the symptoms of insomnia, the causes and the cures. Thesis: Insomnia may not seem like a common “disease”, but a vast majority of our population experience some sort of insomnia on a regular basis. I. Introduction A. Ask a question about the ability and quality of sleep the class receives. B. The Definition of Insomnia. i. Insomnia is a sleep disorder characterized by difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up too early. Insomnia is also the quality of sleep one receives. C. How common insomnia really is. i. Insomnia is very common and affects more than one third of adults. D. Brief overview of the causes. i. Insomnia is a result of many different causes. E. Brief overview of the cures. i. There are many different cures for insomnia, however each cure works differently for every different person.
