° -We know English succeeded because of the 13 colonies that came to America and worked. ° -Dutch settled in New York City (New Amsterdam) ° -British wants power and influence. #1 world power over time. They missed the whole Columbian Exchange because they are going to have their own culture exchange. ° ° Mercantilism- putting people in a colony to gather goods for their home country. An economic theory that say the world’s goods are finite. The country that controls the most stuff will have the most power.
