The forces for freedom for black freedom were a strong force that was caused by the change of the Colonies’ direction. The colonies had change greatly economically, religiously, and enlightened by the idea of natural rights. The need for slaves had also changed; people realize it was more cost effective to hire employees then own and car for slaves. Congress took steps to discourage the growing of the slave trade and importation of slaves. The northern states were more motivated to change. 2. How did the African Americans achieve emancipation the North? The emancipation followed the abolishment of slavery in Haiti in 1804, which became the first black independent republic, and followed by the British Empire in 1838 and then in 1848, the French Colonies.
