English 1a 3/3/07 Journal 2 Once more to the Lake by E.B. White 1. Have you, like E.B. White, ever returned as an adult to a place that was important to you when you were a child? Write two brief descriptions, one from the point of view of your adult self anf one from the point of view from your childhood self. Emerald st, the place I grew up. I lived in a colony of apartments. The whole street was filled with them, there were no houses in sight. My apartments were special compared to all of the other ones on our street. Ours were more like condos, tiny houses all crammed into one spot. There were three different streets in our gated condo like community. Each street had 7 court yards, and a huge overgrown tree had been planted in the middle of each one. As a child this place was my paradise. I lived with my mother in a two bedroom condo. My parents were divorced, and were only at the age of twenty three at the time we lived there. My father didn’t want to separate from me so he moved into our gated community.
