July 6, 2015 Case 4 Summary: Mary, a worker of JSYK Incorporated, a realty company, was assigned to handle a transaction concerning the sale of an old building which was idle for over a year. The building was owned by Ted St. Clair, a man known for hoarding every last dime – a miser. He was told a lot of times that the building won’t be sold without lowering the price but he always refused. The interested buyer was a minister known by Mary, Reverend Smith, who planned to transform the building to a recreation centre for troubled youths. Some of the machines were in poor condition needed repairs which cost 100,000 dollars. However, Reverend Smith said that he had no use for them. The building was being sold for 1 million dollars with a 250,000 down payment. However, the amount Reverend Smith could pay as down payment was only 150,000. When Mary consulted George, the CEO of JSYK, he instructed her to tell Ted that the buyer wants the machines but had an estimate of 150,000 for repairs. He also told her not to mention who
