The topic / central issue of the talk was the evolution of algae to the first land plants. b. The topic discussed the timeline of the evolution of land plants. It discussed when the first cells were created, when the first photosynthetic organisms were present, different obstacles for plant life on land, the different structures of modern land plants versus the first known land plants, and the importance of algae to the development of land plants. It explained how different structures in plants allowed for better growth on land, including hyphae in plant roots which lead to increased linkage of minerals, AMF production which plants are highly dependent upon, and endophytic fungi which allows for increased attainment of nutrients.
