AbstractIn this experiment, we were able to measure the centripetal acceleration of therotating mechanism and determine the centripetal force on the object as well. Weconducted the experiment with two different spring tension settings and increasedthe speed of the mechanism to spin the bob. After two minutes, we recorded thenumber of revolutions. Using the formulas for acceleration, acv2r, and force,Fcmv2r, we are able to determine these values and their differences. Finally, wewere also able to determine angular and tangential speed from the values obtainedat each different spring tension setting. We then compared the differences betweenthe centripetal force and static tension weight. The differences were quite small,suggesting that the results are more accurate than not.
