BLOOM’S TAXONOMYThe Taxonomy of Educational Objectives, known as Bloom's Taxonomy (Bloom, Engelhart,Furst, & Krathwohl, 1956) is one of the most recognized learning theories in the field ofeducation.Bloom's Taxonomy comprises three learning domains: the cognitive, affective, andpsychomotor, and assigns to each of these domains a hierarchy that corresponds todifferent levels of learning.
COGNITIVEDOMAINIt is focused on intellectual skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, andcreating a knowledge base. In this domain, learners are expected to progresslinearly through the hierarchy, beginning at "remember" and ending at "create."
AFFECTIVEDOMAINThe affective domain focuses on theattitudes, values, interests, andappreciation of learners.The hierarchy associated with itbegins with receiving and listening toinformation, and extends tocharacterization, or internalizingvalues and consistently acting uponthem. It focuses on allowing learnersto understand what their own valuesare and how they have developed.
