DQ 4 Socio 1010 November 15, 2007 For me this subject hits right to home because my senior year in high school I “dated” a boy who was black. To my own detriment my father HATED this fact, my father to me has never stated that he was racist yet when it came down to his baby girl he could not even fathom the fact that I could ever be attracted to someone who was not white. Where we live in Lusby my father owns a gas station and our cliental is over I would say 75% black so basically they allow us to live the way we do. So I was really surprised when I spoke with my father on this subject and he really could not come up with a definitive reason for not wanting me to date someone who was not white. It ended up not working out but not because of my father’s views I rose above him and I saw Julius for what he was not what he looked like on the outside. To my revelation his family was actually much more understanding and when ever I think about interracial relationships to me it usually seems like the family that is not the predominate race tends to disapprove more. I
