Unformatted text preview: Television is a universal stimulant. Many people may use it to relax and cool down after a hard day of work or as an information source which in moderation can be a good thing. It is also sometimes used to occupy or distract someone from other work or activates that they could be doing to better themselves. It is not uncommon for many people to watch up to three or four hours of TV shows a day. What they are not realizing are the overall effects that the television has on their everyday family life. Excessive television watching has created family related issues which have lead to a lack of interpersonal communication. I grew up eating dinner every night with my family; we all sat down at the dinner table and discussed how our days had progressed and anything that came into our minds naturally.
