Western Civilization Chambers 301-329 Summary April 7 th , 2008 The economic standing during the beginning of the 14 th century is very unstable. The wages are rising due to the population decrease. All this increase in price leads the people of the time to adapt. They become accustomed to this by creating new machines and using technology to help them complete their labor jobs more efficiently. A few examples of this were through mining. They thought of better and more proficient ways to extract silver from the lead alloy, here is when the coinage of money became easily obtained and more common. The money helped to stimulate the economy and the new metals were used for many other things. This technological advance created a chain reaction because with the new metals more and more things were created. They could now make firearms, cannons and reliable tools. This was a time period of many new inventions. Clocks were invented as well as the printing press. With the introduction of paper from the east it was cheaper to print things.
