Have you always wanted to know the best way to fold a t-shirt? Well, I taught my  peers how to do just that. I choose this topic because it is a subject that every college student  can relate to. The repetitive folding of a t-shirt can get boring. So I decided to teach a new way  of folding a t-shirt that I learned from watching Martha Stewarts’ TV show. To make my lesson  plan effective, it seemed that visual demonstration and letting the peers practice on a t-shirt  would get them into the learning the easiest. The lesson was set up as so: First, I briefly  discussed common problems with t-shirt folding and demonstrated different methods on a shirt I  brought in. Secondly, I showed them the cool new way, and gave them a step-by-step, color  coded list of instruction for them to look at while I demonstrated. Last but not least I let them try  to put their new taught trick to the test and let them fold it. It took a few tries but they seemed to  catch on quick.  When it comes to teaching there are certain aspects that make your presentations  more effective.  According to one of my peer students my simple and straight forward example  made it easier to learn. He also stated that bringing in an actually t-shirt to demonstrate and  practice on was a key feature to making my lesson effective. The other peer student  commented on the very helpful color coded steps as illustrated by the handout. Again, she

commented on the effectiveness of using an actual t-shirt for demonstration purposes. What I  learned about my effectiveness is that the variety of examples is the most effective teaching
