Nicolas GodfreyBUS111Professor PricePatagonia Case StudyThe case study is about Patagonias differentiation strategy, where they focus on highquality products, a strong supplier chain and social responsibility, which lead them to the top ofthe outdoor clothing market. Patagonia approached the market completely differently and ischarging high prices, but they are still successful with it.Patagonia was able to create those high profit margins, as the strong supplier chain andclose relations gives them the opportunity to produce in high quality. Unlike competitorsPatagonia values the high quality and special materials, that makes them superior and differentfrom anybody else. Customers are willing to pay more if they know what they get for theirmoney, and especially in the outdoor industry the customer's interest in sustainability andenvironment friendly material is high. 1% of its annual sales are going to a good cause that issupporting the environment, thus the customer knows where their money is going. They not onlyinvest in sustainable clothing, but also give money to other good causes. With this Patagoniashows and proves that they actually do care for the environment
