Wormhole as time machine - Each mouth opens to local patch of Universe - But flow of time is the same across the wormhole - Keep one mouth stationary, let other travel out and back at close to speed of light o Exploit twin paradox o Traveler’s end of wormhole: returns to find world has aged much more than she has o Stationary end: everything has aged at the same rate as the traveler (Thorne’s analogy of “holding hands across wormhole”) o Can simply pass through wormhole to go back/forward in time - Can’t travel back to time earlier than departure of traveler (time the wormhole first became a time machine) - Twin gets into spaceship through wormhole…other twin is sitting in house o Two ways of watching other end of wormhole One look out window at spaceship Two look through wormhole and see earth through window of spaceship o Twin sees that the space ship has landed in 12 hours…goes in through the wormhole to join twin and they walk out together and it is 10 years later…
