THE WESLEYAN ANTHOLOGY OF SCIENCE FICTION 2 The Wesleyan Anthology of Science Fiction Question #1 The movie follows the events of a young man Donnie Darko with schizophrenia. In the plot, we see that in one of the nights, Donnie gets to sleepwalk out of the comfort of his bed towards his front lawn outside the house. Here, he gets a visit from a six-foot tall man who is dressed in a rabbit suit named Frank in their discussions, Frank get to inform Donnie that the world was going to come to any end within the coming twenty-eight days. Immediately after their conversation, a jet engine gets to crash on the rooftop of his house. The origin of the aircraft part is unknown to everyone and Donnie starts to experience his dark visions. It is also shown that he also developed telekinetic powers that saw Frank guiding him through the journey by sometimes giving him responsibilities of which at the time were destructive. In the plot we see that Donnie gets assistance from his fiancée, Gretchen, the psychiatrist and Roberta Sparrow who assist him through the events but it remains to be Donnie’s responsibility to save the people he considers dear to him as the time was lapsing. In the fiction book, a young man as the main character appears sad and tells his story to the bartender. He narrates how he was previously a girl who grew up in an orphanage upon being abandoned by his parents when she was old enough, she left the shelter and got caught up with the seductions who pays her some good amount of money and later leaves her. In the event, she got pregnant and gave birth to a girl. However, the girl gets kidnapped and gone forever. In the event that she was giving birth, the doctor realized that she had both sex organs. He went ahead to remove the female part and retained the male part to make him a man as he is at the moment. Ironically, the bartender is an agent of time travelling and was intending to hire the young man.
THE WESLEYAN ANTHOLOGY OF SCIENCE FICTION 3 He convinces him for his assistance and takes him back to time where it is revealed that the bartender was the man who seduced him earlier and the daughter who was stolen was him. The two sets of science fiction plots get great motivation from time travel. The first part is how the setting in done. In the Donnie Darko movie, the setting brings a different perspective of worlds that remove people from the normal world realm to another world where it takes a lot of effort to resolve the issues that face the character. The same approach has been given in the All You Zombies fiction book where the author has looked into time travel as a way of understanding human nature. The setting involving two persons who correlate in different time realms motivate the flow of the story. The mystery involved in the two different sets also gets the motivation from time travel. From the movie part, the end of the world period makes it mysterious and when roll Donnie has to play to save those he cares about. In the book, the young
