Nursing Informatics
Nursing informatics is a combination of three fields of study computer science,
information technology, and nursing. The role of nursing informatics in the healthcare system is
the manipulation of data, organizing of patient medical records, and software used for patient
care. The advancement of technology poses a serious challenge to the future of nursing with the
developments of robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Nursing informatics in the future will
focus on automated medical data records, better service at health institutions, easy collection, and
analysis of data, and access to patient information at any place and time. Nursing informatics
aims at safer and better health care by focusing on the workflow. This paper outlines education,
and compensation, and the future trends of nursing informatics (Sensmeier, 2015).
