Graphic Witness Assignment: Communicating with Comics For this assignment, students will be assigned one of the four stories from the text, Graphic Witness. Once assigned the story, students should “read” the story through several times and get a strong sense of what the story’s premise is. Students are encouraged to return to the introduction for general direction. The student then must write a story based on what is depicted in the story. The story should be comprehensive but concise. This means that students should strive to cover most of the pictures within their written story, but do so in a fashion that blends more than one picture into a single sentence. To make the paper easier, students should name the main characters as they come into the story. The student will also be expected to provide page numbers at the end of sentences to clarify where in the story they are getting their ideas. This should be done with the use of parentheses BEFORE the period. If the sentence is covering a single page, then just put the page number. If the sentence covers
