Comic Strip Journal Value: 20% of Final Grade BEGIN: March 6, 2008 DUE: April 15, at the Beginning of Class The purpose of this journal is to help students follow and analyze an ongoing comic strip. Herein, they can use skills learned in class and from the readings to assess and consider how well the artist manages to project his meaning, themes, plots, etc. Students will follow a comic strip from a daily newspaper or an online daily publication. Please note that this needs to be a daily strip and not a weekly strip. With each entry, students should provide an ongoing commentary. This commentary should be no less than a paragraph but can be more if the student desires. Students can comment on a variety of issues about the particular strip. Try to be specific about comments. Generalities are ok, but students should start with a general comment and work into more specific concepts. Students should also draw upon the range of material read in the classroom to further discuss the ideas. Accompanying the journal will be 2-3
