ADHD is a neurological deficitthat keeps a child with attention deficit disorders from learning in a traditional way (J. Segal, Ph.D., M. Smith M.A., 2016 April). ADHD affects an estimated 5- 7% of school children worldwide (Dept. of Psychiatry, 2015 December). Even though a student has ADHD does not mean he or she wants to be treated special or any different from any other student. As a matter of fact they want to be treated equal. Yes, they have this attention disorder but it just mean they needa little more time to catch up. Students with ADHD face many challenges on a daily basis like paying attention, staying quiet, following instructions and sitting still. A student with ADHD require more attention and patience than a student who does not have the disorder. If not treated correctly and in a timely manner ADHD can cause a child to not perform at their best and fail in school. A student with ADHD in school does not mean that, that child is not smart.
