First World ProblemsToday’s society is plagued with problems. These problems range from starvation in the streets to cracks in iPhones. The difference in severity is blatant but when it comes to issues involving morality it becomes much more difficult to evaluate which problem is paramount to the rest. This theory is brought to light by James Hamblin.His article “My Outrage is Better than your Outrage”, discusses the murder of the beloved African Lion Cecil who was illegally poached by wealthy dentist Walter Palmer. Millions jumped on social media to attack the monstrous human-being who killed such a cute animal. Ironically, majority of these “activists” had never even heard of Cecil until the story made the headlines. In all technicality Palmer did not illegally kill the lion because it was out of protected land but he may have knowingly lured him out of safety. And so the controversy begins, Palmer broke no law but rather begun a war on a morals thus causing animal lovers everywhere to cry out in disdain.
