Jordan Lofgren ENGW 1101 Intro to Creative Writing TA: Patrick Hueller Bill Reichard Response Bill Reichard shared numerous pieces of advice during his lecture. He kept stressing the point of not using outrageously complicated words. One piece of advice that really stuck out to me was when he said that we should write in our own “vernacular”. It helps make everything that you write much more understandable and also does not make your writing sound like someone else’s voice. You need to use a vocabulary that you are completely comfortable with. In doing this, it helps you create your own personal writing voice. You do not have to worry about sounding false or like you are trying to write like another author. You have your own special writing style and persona that help set you apart from everyone else. Another piece of advice that Reichard gave was when he was talking about how the usage of colors, smell, taste, scent, and touch were great tools to work with. I agree with him completely on this. The usage of our senses really helps the readers understand
