Jordan Lofgren ENGW 1101 Intro to Creative Writing TA: Patrick Hueller Katrina Vandenberg Response Katrina Vandenberg shared numerous pieces of advice throughout her lecture. She really stressed the point of having your poems connect with someone. She kept saying that your poems become more meaningful if you have them connect with a person because then it obviously makes the poem very personal to you as the author and at least one other person who shared the experience with you that you’re writing about. Making your poems personal make them meaningful to you as a writer. You become truly passionate about your work. Vandenberg said that when you give your poem personal meaning to another person, it gives your poem a face. Your poem is created into an image that your audience can actually picture in their mind instead of just words on a piece of paper. Another piece of advice that Vandenberg gave was on the usage of “interesting” verbs. She said that by using verbs that are interesting, you are able to draw the attention
