It is only 2.75kilometers from Basco and is situated on ahilltop. In Radar Tukon, you can climb to thetop of the tower. On one side, boulder-linedcliffs and the Pacific Ocean; on the other, abreath-taking and breathtaking 360-degreeview over Batan Island, the South ChinaSea, Mt. Iraya, and Basco town. You can alsoappreciate the town’s powerful refreshingsea breeze as it passes through the hills andforests. The Basco Radar Station is currentlyhoused in the edifice.Ruins of SongsongKulay FestivalKulay Fesivals is a word that signifies“colors.” “In Ivatan, Kulay refers to anything thathas been dried. Locally produced dry productssuch as onion, garlic, fish, rice, and corn, amongothers, abound in Batanes,” adds Fe Fitero, co-owner of Marfel Lodge, a popular Batan Islandhomestay.Payuhwan FestivalThe Payuhwan Festival celebrated Ivatans’togetherness as a community united incooperation and solidarity. The 235thBatanesFounding Anniversary was celebrated in Bascofor a week from June 26 to July 2, 2015, withthe theme “Strengthening 235 Years of IvatanCooperativism.” Various activities wereorganized throughout the week-long festival,with the cultural parade, kanan dukumnavahayan (unity meal), and Agro TradeFair being among the highlights.Palu-palo FestivalThe Palo-Palo Festival takes place on July24thin Basco, Batanes.
