Project to construct proposed hostels in Bellevue, South C area Nairobi County TYPE OF CONTRACT APPROPRIATE FOR THE WORKS The works in question are predominantly building works. But the design is also being carried out by the contractor as well as the BILLs of Quantities. Therefore, I propose that a Design and Build contract approach is used that will be governed by the JBC suite of contract documents. The use of this type of contract documents by the JBC will enhance: Standardization of the works Good practice and ethics Equitable distribution of the contracting risks This type of contract covers all aspects of most types of building projects and is thus suitable for our project to construct proposed hostels in Bellevue, South C area Nairobi County . The project is a government project as the client is a government owned institution which is the Technical University of Kenya. This type of contract has an agreement containing standard provision that caters for most aspects pertaining the works. CONTRACTOR SELECTION METHOD It was discussed and concluded that the selective tendering method of contractor selection was to be used owing to the amount of risk involved in the works. The selected contractors were to receive invitation bids to tender for the works and thus they would oblige by replying to the bids; their bids would be evaluated and the most appropriate candidate chosen. Advantages of this are: Minimal time is taken in evaluating and selecting the contractor. It is easier to select the most appropriate candidate. 1 | P a g e

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
