Hist. 2057 04/15/2008 I. Fighting the war a. The war had ended in Germany but not in Japan b. The assumption was that it would have to end the same way as it ended in Germany with deep infiltration c. The invasion of Japan never took place because the US’ secret weapon became avaible in the summer d. The atomic bomb i. It was rumored that before the concentration camp German men had been able to split the atom ii. Were used to try and weaponize this iii. Roosevelt leads the way on this(so top secret that VP doesn’t even know) iv. After Roosevelt died Truman gets wind of this v. He tests the weapon and then drops two bombs on Japanese cities (Hiroshima Nagasaki) vi. The decision to drop the bomb was kind of strange vii.Some people believe that Truman was trying to impress the Soviets viii. The Soviets were emerging out of war as a World power and no one trusted them ix. Stalin already knew that US had bomb x. The war was so bad that people recognized the technology of the bomb not the killing of 100,000 of civilians II. The good war?
