March 8, 2008 I. Foreign policy of the 1920s a. Emerged from WWI as world economic super power b. Historically had not been a major role player; continues after WWI c. Was not a military super power d. After WWI the world was worn down after WWI couldn’t afford any conflict e. After the war the US and other countries and declared peace against one another f. Sign a treaty to denounce war and that a country would only go to war to defend itself g. In ten years a lot of the countries turn themselves into military machines and denounce treaty h. The US signed a treaty to limit Navy for more defense than offense i. The US was stilled owed a lot of money that it lent during WWI j. The US was able to increase factory output while post war countries’ factories were destroyed k. The Us was able to increase it exports of these factories good to these countries l. The US was able to invest overseas as well m. Germany started borrowing billions of dollars from the US to pay reprimand to France and England
