Alexis D White Dr. Victoria Southworth May 5, 2016 My Outlook on the death penalty Some people look at the world’s society and believe that it’s ok to do wrong for wrong, or as the famous saying goes, “an eye for an eye.” The strong subject over the death penalty is growing more and more every day. I feel that we should not have the death penalty as an option for many reasons. For example, allowing people to be sent to the death penalty can be more expensive than life in prison, some offenders are mentally ill and punishing them this way is not justice, and doctors may not want to cooperate. Studies say that the California commission on the fair administration of justice has found that the death penalty costs California taxpayers $137 million dollars each year. Million’s could be saved each year with permanent imprisonment. No matter how heinous the crime is, dose that give the government the right to commit the same act against an inmate?
