Table 1 above shows current areas of interest relative to this SWOT analysis. Below is an overview of each item listed in Table 1. Strengths SWOT analysis was conducted based on information gathered from the case study, and it is clear to me that AEnergy takes their IT infrastructure very seriously. Here are some of the strengths the analysis revealed: System Upgrade – From the analysis I found that the current system has been updated based on the recent demand of the IT sector, specifically in server storage capacity. This has given the company the ability to more easily facilitate future growth. Site Connectivity – There is proper interconnectivity between each site that allows functions from both sites to be performed as if all under one roof. This will aid the company in collaboration efforts, as well as allow for central management by the IT staff. Production Status Reporting System – As mentioned in the case study, the production status reporting system Taylor developed has led to increased efficiency. This increased efficiency has helped the organization realize overall cost savings. This provides the company a means to pass savings on to the customer. I.T. Department with vast knowledge and experience – The I.T. department of the company is made up of highly experienced and educated individuals. They are the individuals who drive the organization’s technological view, and are responsible
for the highly productive results produced. A dependable and knowledgeable staff is the key to an I.T. infrastructure operating at peak efficiency, while providing the ability mitigate issues appropriately when they arise. The staff has over 80 years of experience between them. Weaknesses As pointed out in the previous section, the company exhibits strengths in many key areas. However, the SWOT analysis also revealed some weaknesses in the current IT infrastructure. Some of these are listed below: Data Security – Many security precautions are evident in the current infrastructure, however flash drives are not addressed. There also is now mention of drive encryption in the case study. Given the highly sensitive data within the organization’s system, flash drives should be locked down, with only limited access given, based on pre-determined parameters. This is a vulnerability given the current setup. While the use of tracking devices is appropriate, securing the data on the actual hard drives should be equally, if not more of a focus.
