Lab Experiment #3: Analysis of Water Introduction : In this lab our objective is to determine what solutes are in water. This will be done by both physically changing water by boiling it to observe what solids remain and through chemical change by adding various solutions to water an observing the precipitate. Pre-Lab Questions: Attached Data : Attached Calculations: Attached Discussion : The purpose of this experiment is to analyze water using various methods. We will do this by physically changing water by boiling it and chemically changing it by adding various solutes. We are doing this because this will allow us to determine what sort of substances that are in tap and salt water. The first part of the experiment we first weighed beakers to determine their initial weight and got a weight of 158.250g and then added 75ml of tap and weighed the beaker again to get a weight of 231.910g.
