Daria Buchanan Hughes 5-16-16 Villanelle Graduation I wait and I yearn for Ending. Sunsets, finish lines. One day I won’t wait anymore. I’ll repay my debts, my fines My friends will take off their blinds Their masks drop to the floor Grateful to be avoiding those mines Mom and dad please do not cry Then I won’t hold mine in anymore Let me go dry. Goodbyes may be solemn Why not make ours sweet So we do not have to cry Gratefulness is my good bye I know I’m a bore
But I’m going to fly I won’t promise not to die But I’ll try my best I guess we can now cry. -D.B. 1) What is the strength of your poem? 2) What could still be improved?
